Newton's Nook Designs August Release - Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the August Release for Newton's Nook Designs!!!  Today, we are featuring a classic stamp set that is a MUST NEED for your collection!  Introducing Simply Sentimental.  I just love the large font and the smaller words to make any sentiment that you could ever need.

Just check out all those fun sentiments!!!  And did you know you can pair this with Hanging Around and make the cute animals hang from the sentiments!! Yup,you sure can!!

For this card I used my new thin wafer dies I got to create a simple yet fun card.  I really let the pattern paper speak on this card. I embossed the sentiment with Silver Glitter Embossing powder for special touch. Topped it off with some goosebumps gems and call it a day!

For my second card I used again a lot of patterned paper to make a classic Anniversary card.  I used a bit of vellum for a simple elegant touch.

Newton's Nook Design's August Release - Day 1

Welcome to the August Release for Newton's Nook Designs!!! Today, we are featuring the new set "Hanging Around".  It features a bunch of fun animals just hanging around!!! Even Newton gets in on the action!!  Would you like to WIN this new set?? Be sure to read the details at the bottom of the post.

For this card I decided to heat emboss all my stamping on the background to keep the water coloring where it needs to stay.  I colored the Koala image with copics and fussy cut him out.  I then added some White Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to the clouds.  I LOVE how it looks!!!  For the sentiment I embossed some Green Glitter Embossing Powder on to a piece of vellum.  Then I stitched it on with a sewing machine for some extra detail.

For my second card I decided to use the cute Opossum!  Isn't he just adorable?

Quick Tip!  For the background I stamped the cloud, then turned the stamp over and inked up the solid side of the stamp for a different look!  Then Inked the edges with some distress ink to complete the sky look.

I used some thin wafer dies to cut out the green piece of paper in a wonky shape. (You totally could cut that on a regular paper cutter)  I then Added a strip of orange paper and some woodgrain washi tape, to keep with the outdoors-y feel.  To Top it off I added some Kraft Twine.

Would you like to win “Hanging Around” ? This set will be given away to TWO lucky winners

Card Collab with Jess Moyer

Happy Saturday!!!!  Today I am here with something a bit different!!!  If you are on YouTube at all you may have scene Card Collab's popping up all over.  Well they are pretty cool to see how people use what they are given or in this case we chose a sketch and a stamp set we knew we each had.

A few weeks ago my teamie the wonderful Jess Moyer from Newton's Nook Designs Design Team asked me to do a Card Collab with her.  So of course I said YES!!  She makes a lot of cards for Operation Write Home  a great organization that sends cards to the troops so they can write home to their families and loved ones.  It is an amazing thing and I am happy to be taking part in their current sketch challenge below. They do have some rules to follow by and one if them is NO GLITTER.  It is very hard to not use glitter but to keep our troops safe it must be done!!!

The Challenge! Use the Operation Write Home Sketch and Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child Stamp Set.

Here is the Operation Write Home Sketch and the Wild Child Stamp Set.
I created a video for you to enjoy on how I made the card and a little bit about Operation Write Home.

Here is the card I created using the Sketch and Newton's Nook Designs Stamps. It is a really simple layout and you could use it for any subject.

I hope you enjoyed my card and it inspired you!! Be sure to head on over to Jess's blog here to see what she created!   Jess also has an awesome YouTube Channel!  Head on over and Subscribe!

Aloha....Hello...

Happy Sunday!!!!  I am here with another card for the Create A Smile Guest DT Entry.   I used this AWESOME AMAZING MOST FAVORITE FREEBIE I have ever seen!!! (ok ok, penguins have a place in my heart, so I am a little bias!). You can get the free digi here.

There is a lot of texture going on here. I used some new Pearlecent Embossing Paste and a Studio Calico Stencil.  I then sprayed some Heidi Swapp Spray on some plastic, mooshed it around a bit...then smashed it down on my background.  Then dropped some silver tinsel Heidi Swapp over that.  I colored the penguin with copics and blended orange with yellows for the first time ever. Then I added a sentiment from the Avery Elle - Surfs Up stamp set, they go great with the little penguin!

For the last touch of texture I added some yellow twine.  I unraveled the ends and I love the look it adds. It remind me of some beach hair!!!

Materials:
Create A Smile Free Digi - Penguin
Copic Markeres
Dreamweaver Perlecent Embossing Paste
Avery Elle Stamps - Surfs Up
Heidi Swapp Sprays
Jillybean Soup Twine
Recollections 120lb Cardstock

Monster Hi!!!

Happy Saturday!!!!!  WOW what a whirl wind of a week it has been!!!  Today, I am here with a Cute Monster card using a FREE Digi from Create A Smile Stamps for a chance at a guest DT spot.  You can check out the cutest FREE digi stamps they have available here.  I just love this cute little monster!!!!  I used quite a few techniques on this card from Metallic Embossibg paste. then Distress Inks with a stencil and a spritz of water. See the faint image of the hexagons? Yup, thats from the stencil and water!!

I also colored vellum with some more Distress Ink and tore the edge free hand for a fun look.  I then die cut the speech bubble with the remaining vellum and used some tiny type.  This little guy reminds me of Q-bert.  Remember him from the 80's video game or the recent movie Wreck it Ralph?  Well when he talks its just symbols. So I though it would be cute for this guy to do the same!!!  Though I translated it for us!!!!

I hope you enjoyed this fun card with lots and lots of texture and techniques!!!!
