Inky Paws Challenge #10 - Add A Texture!

Hello my lovely followers of Newton's Nook Designs!  I am here today with a card for the Inky Paws Challenge - Add a Texture!  I had so much fun creating this card for you and I hope you are inspired to play along in the challenge.  Please, leave me a comment with a link to your card so I can check it out. I would love to see what you create.

For this card I used a piece of stick back canvas from Ranger and used Newton's paw stamp from Newton's Antics with some Distress Paint to make it look like Newton was inspired by Van Gogh for his first original piece of art!  I just stamped out the painting with the single Newton Pay and different colors of Distress Paint, easy as pie!  Then I stamped out the wooden frame...to add MORE TEXTURE from Around the House set.

Picked my some crazy patterned papers to look like wallpaper and carpet.  Added a Mischievous Newton from Newton's Antics and got him all messy with the same Distress Paint.  To finish it off I added some buttons for the flower centers and added a cute little banner stating that Newton totally, "Nailed it".  If this card doesn't make you smile I don't know what will!

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration card for the Inky Paws Challenge and hope you play along too!  Click here to submit your card!

Newton's Nook Designs May Release - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs May Release!!  Today, is all about DAD with Winston's BBQ!   This set would also be great for Picnics and parties!!

Don't forget to scroll down below to see how you can WIN Winson's BBQ!

My first card for you features Winston in his CUTE apron and chef hat!  I had so much FUN coloring him up!!!  For the background I used a brick stencil, distress markers, marker spritzer and black pen.  For a fun quick floor I just layered some wash tape.

For my second card I kept it simple and used a bunch of die cuts to create this card.  Sometimes simple is the best!  Right? I layered two patterned papers and stamped the burger, beer and DAD sentiment in some neutral grey. For the finishing touch I added some green enamel dots and white gel pen for some faux stitching.

Newton's Nook Designs May Release - Day 1

Welcome to the Newton's Nook Designs May Release!!!!  I know you are really going to LOVE this months sets.  Today, we are featuring Around the House!!!  This set is purrfect for a home remodel, or the handyman in your life!!!  This set would also work great with Newton!  I can just imagine him inside the picture frame!

Don't forget to scroll all the way down to find out how to WIN the new May sets!!!

Let's get to the inspiration, cause I know that's what your here for!  For this card I heat embossed the light bulb several times on watercolor paper. Then I took a rainbow of watercolor and randomly colored over each bulb. The heat embossing will RESIST the color to revel the lightbulb. I then layered it with several pieces of colored card stock.

For my second card, I wanted to use the tape dispenser as a washi tape dispenser.  This card is super easy to create and mass produce!!!!  I just picked some of my favorite washi tapes and randomly taped them down to my card.  I then heat embossed the tape dispenser colored with some distress markers and backed it on colored card stock. To finish it off I stamped my sentiment on vellum and BAM!  Your done!

QUICK TIP!  My favorite way to adhere vellum to your project is to use a stapler!

Little Tangles: Peach and Mint Challenge

Hello my scrappy peeps!!!!  Today, I played along with Neat and Tangled's Little Tangles Challenge #36: Peach and Mint.  I have to say those colors are SO HOT right now. *SWOON* I had to play along!!!!

So I REALLY NEED to use my patterned paper instead of HOARDING it all the time.  So I finally used some Neapolitan collection from Dear Lizzy. (yes, i have two packs of it so it doesn't make be feel so bad using it, and yes, I apparently have problems).

I added TONS of texture to this card from the Vellum background, the felt clouds and the acetate speech bubble!!! What can I say it was National Scrapbooking Day and I was outta control! haha

Neat and Tangled Stamps: Sketchy Cupcakes
Birdie is a FREE digi! from Neat and Tangled
Dear Lizzy: Neapolitan Collection
White Felt
Acetate

A Boat Load of Birthday Presents

Good Morning my Newtonites!!!!!  Today, I am here and on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog with a card and a video!  For this card I used SEA-sons Greetings in a non holiday way!   I love getting the most out of my stamps by using in them all different ways then intended.

This card has a LOT and I mean a LOT of die cutting!  But, it made for a quick card in the long run.  I started out by cutting my waves out of vellum and used Ink to color them.  I layered them to create an ocean scene. Then I die cut my polaroid and tab for my sentiment. Colored up the birthday presents in the boat and placed it behind a few vellum waves for a realistic look.   Then I thought to myself......this still needs something. So I embossed the clouds onto white card stock for a subtle look.

Since I have been getting so many questions on how did I do the embossing on previous cards. I decided to make a video on a few different types of mediums  you can run through a dry embossing folder for fun techniques!!!!!

I hope you are inspired by my video and use this technique on your future cards for the Inky Paws Challenge!

Happy Stampin!
